What is it that one applies when trying to accomplish something if its not determination?
Perhaps it is the application of oneself?
This is a powerful subtle distinction. When we apply determination to anything in our lives, we remove focus off of ourselves and re-apply it to the target we are determined to accomplish. Whether it be a relationship or a task, whether it is positive or negative, we remove our selves from the situation when we are only concerned with the situation itself. Instead, we need to continue to apply ourselves in the situation with a keen focus on our own engagement.
By concentrating on our own engagement we can see not only changes in the situation, but also how we are changed by the situation. We can better navigate through challenges in the situation because we understand that in each situation, we only control our own actions and reactions. We feel more accomplished having undergone the situation, because we were accountable within the situation and have allowed ourselves to be altered spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, and physically by this situation.
