While this presentation is set to be an interactive workshop, below are the points I hope to make, that I hope will be meaningful to the workshop participants:
Theme:
While we will be briefly touching on the financial planning and legal methods of starting a business, this workshop is about becoming your own boss: It is more rudimentary and fundamental investment that one must undertake before setting oneself free to pursue a task such as starting your own business.
- Being your Own Boss is a STATE OF MIND not a STATE OF EMPLOYMENT.
–You need to be the decision maker in your own life.
–Your faith needs to be an intimate and personal investment. - Your VOCATION should be your AVOCATION.
–Actively decide to pursue/defer a dream.
–Make your dreams into goals.
–Ask yourself, are you wasting your time-your most precious commodity. - Assess your ability to absorb RISK.
–Whats in your wallet, then, whats in your portfolio.
–Where do you thrive: owner, partner, teammate. - Personal Accountability/Financial Pragmatism.
–You need to be accountable to who you are and why you have have decided to be who you’ve become.
–Your trappings should be an indication of ownership, not slavery (debt). - Personal Success hinges on the Collective Success of the Network to which you belong.
–Birds of a Feather/No man is an island - Inhibitors to Being Your Own Boss
–Fear of the Unknown; Fear of Success; Fear of Self
Quote:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
–Marianne Williamson
